Alexis Da Silva-Powell
Alexis received the majority of her training at the Pia Bouman School for Ballet and Creative Movement. In 1991 she became a member of the Young Movement Incorporated Dancing (YMI). She performed with the company in a variety of venues and festivals including First Night and Dusk Dances. During her time with the company she worked with choreographers Lyn Shepard, Bayla Rae Goldman, and Sylvie Bouchard. Alexis' first experience as an independent dancer was provided by Sion Irwin-Childs' company Pedestrian Trash. She then joined La Belle Danse. Following her graduation from York University with a Fine Arts Degree in dance, Alexis has since worked as an independent dance artist. During this time she has worked with a variety of new and exciting choreographers including Tracey Norman and Jennifer Robichaud. Alexis will graduate this June from Humber College with a post-graduate certificate in Arts Administration and Cultural Management.
